It's our Wednesday episode, our list episode, where we list five things of a particular topic and we just give you our favorite and why and all of that as curb your enthusiasm is playing on the television. By now, the new episode has come out and it probably was hilarious. Shout out to Larry David and JB Smooth. And man, that's a good, great show, right? Smooth. Is it what? [00:02:23] Speaker B: It smooth? [00:02:24] Speaker C: Is it JB smooth like a JB smooth? I don't know. Anyway, welcome back, y'all. Email us [email protected] let us know what you think. Today's list episode, what we doing today, Amy? [00:02:38] Speaker B: One hit wonders. [00:02:39] Speaker C: One hit wonders. It's a lot of some. Well, I know one of mine in particular I don't think is a one hit wonder, but it leads to a. [00:02:49] Speaker B: Conversation I was having with my child, because every Saturday I'd be like, I got to make sure I can do my homework. So what are you doing for the show? He's vested. Okay. What are you all going to be talking about? [00:03:02] Speaker C: Really? [00:03:02] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:03:02] Speaker C: We got to have him on the show. [00:03:04] Speaker B: No, we don't. [00:03:04] Speaker C: Yes, we do. [00:03:05] Speaker B: I can't cuss like I want to. [00:03:06] Speaker C: I don't want you to cuss like you want to. You want to be on Snoop movie. [00:03:11] Speaker B: So I told him one hit wonders and one of my top choice, and I was explaining to him, I say, have you ever heard anything else from this guy? He was like, well, that'll make it a one hit wonder because he could have made a song that somebody else could have liked. And I was like, well, but that doesn't make it a hit. Like, he had one hit that people love, like Sunshine Anderson people would consider her a one hit wonder. But I loved her album, so I. [00:03:40] Speaker C: To me, I forgot about her. [00:03:41] Speaker B: She got ten hits. [00:03:43] Speaker C: Damn, I could have put her. Do you see the recent video with her? [00:03:49] Speaker B: She was singing. [00:03:51] Speaker C: Whose song was she singing? And she had a little nipple slip. [00:03:54] Speaker B: No. [00:03:55] Speaker C: Yeah. No, it wasn't Sunshine Anderson. What's the other one? [00:04:00] Speaker B: It's probably teased. [00:04:01] Speaker C: No, it was sunshine. It's Sunshine Anderson. She was singing. Was it a Mary J. Blige song or something like that? And that thing. Lord, big Brown Ariolis was out, boy. And she called it, you know, like if you feel you maybe like your shirt tail is out or something, you could tell she felt that it was out, but she grabbed for the wrong one to put it in. She put all both of them in. But I'll find it and send it to you because I know you love titties as much as me. But, yeah, we're talking one hit wonders, you all. So you know how we do. We'll play a little snippet of it. And this one hit wonders I was going through, and I was like, damn. Let me try to find one. This, that, and the third. But this is one that came up. This is my number five right here. Come on, thing. There you go. I know you. What happened to Blue Cantrell? This is a hit em up style by Blue Cantrell. What happened to her? [00:04:57] Speaker B: Jay Z. [00:04:58] Speaker C: Thank you. He was used to smash. Allegedly. Right? She was fine, too. [00:05:04] Speaker B: She talked too much. [00:05:05] Speaker C: Oh, she mentioned it. [00:05:06] Speaker B: He had to get rid of her. [00:05:07] Speaker C: Wow. [00:05:08] Speaker B: And then after Blue Ivy was born. [00:05:10] Speaker C: She tried to say that she was named Messy. Yeah. So that was my number five. [00:05:17] Speaker B: Oops. [00:05:19] Speaker C: This was the oops time. This was another time when women had a whole bunch of hits out. [00:05:24] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:05:25] Speaker C: Amory. Was Amory out around the same time. [00:05:27] Speaker B: Yeah, I feel like she was. [00:05:28] Speaker C: I almost put her on the list. But she got some hits. [00:05:31] Speaker B: She got some hits. [00:05:32] Speaker C: She got some hits. Amory got some hits. And I was thinking of Jeanne, but they got some hits, too. You know what? [00:05:38] Speaker B: See, that's why I was telling my son. It's like it's up to interpretation. That one hit may be the only thing you remember, but you got to think about the mass. [00:05:45] Speaker C: Yeah, but that's why the other person, I was like, my number one. I think they got more than one hit. So we'll get to your number five. [00:05:55] Speaker B: Let's see. [00:05:57] Speaker C: I'm telling my age, not just before your time. [00:06:01] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:06:05] Speaker C: You can tell. You could tell by the sound that this was eighty s. Yeah. [00:06:13] Speaker B: So Johnny Kemp just got paid. I posted a question on Facebook last week and said, what era of music is your sweet spot? And I chose new jack swing. I love me some new jack swing over everything. Yeah. New jack swinging in kind of neck and neck. [00:06:34] Speaker C: It's good. But I can't listen to new Jack swing every day. I like it now. [00:06:38] Speaker B: New jack swing. The kind of neck and neck, but, yeah. [00:06:41] Speaker C: So what you call it? Did this beat. Teddy Riley did this beat. [00:06:45] Speaker B: At the end of the song, you hear him say, hey, Ted. [00:06:48] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. Say ho. Say ho. Ho. Yeah, this is it. [00:06:57] Speaker B: But yeah, I've never heard of. I mean, he passed away last year. I think we lost Johnny Cat. [00:07:02] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:07:02] Speaker B: Never heard of him on the mic again after that. [00:07:06] Speaker C: My number four is an original. It was a hit to us, but it got copied and that song went on to be a hit. [00:07:19] Speaker B: I think I know where you're going with this. [00:07:21] Speaker C: You do know where I'm going with that because it's on your list. So mine is about a 95 south, and it's called woot Woot. There it is with the t. And the thing that got me, it was one of my early stages of notice and appropriation, I want to say it was like ESPN or something. It's one of the teams used to say, WHOOP. There it is. Like the San Francisco. I mean, New Orleans Saints or something like that. One of the same used to say it. But the big song that was out was the other song, which, I ain't gonna mention it, but they was like. They saying, that's not even how it goes. Whatever, but this was how it goes. [00:07:57] Speaker B: This was the original. [00:07:59] Speaker C: Yeah, but I don't remember anything else. I think that song getting stolen messed them up. And this song was a little bit more nasty, too, because. [00:08:07] Speaker B: And I think that's why people chose the other ones, because the other guys were a little more clean. [00:08:14] Speaker C: So that was my number four. That was mine. Now with yours, he's mine. He's yours? Yes, for yours, Mok and Steph, a. [00:08:26] Speaker B: Song we had no business singing when we was little. [00:08:30] Speaker C: Would you sing that in the house with your people? Are you just saying it? Yeah, you did a little kick. You can't help but do the kick. [00:08:41] Speaker B: With this because, you know, my mama just kind of let me listen to whatever, as long as it was on the radio. We want to say it's we riding on the road. [00:08:50] Speaker C: True. Big DM, you might have had them once, but I got them all the time. I mean, that's fair. [00:08:56] Speaker B: So a little fun fact. Their name, Mok and Steph is their real name. Their names, it's like a mo something. Like Monique, maybe. [00:09:04] Speaker C: Kenya. [00:09:04] Speaker B: Ken something. [00:09:05] Speaker C: And Stephanie. [00:09:06] Speaker B: Stephanie. Yeah. [00:09:07] Speaker C: I just made all three of them up. Now, I don't know if that's their names or not, but Stephanie sounds, and Monique was a name back then. Kenya. Yeah. Shout out to them, ladies. Where they at now? [00:09:17] Speaker B: You know, I ain't heard from them since this. [00:09:23] Speaker C: You know what I thought when we did this? I was like, damn, my shit gonna be full of hip hop. But I steered away from that and I got into my, like, B Max, say my r and b bag. Okay, so that's your number four. Now, my number three. My number three comes from. They call it a rhythm, dewaly rhythm. And when you hear this song, you will think of probably three other songs with the same beat. [00:09:49] Speaker B: Okay. [00:09:50] Speaker C: And if it was a DJ, half his worth, half the money they paid him to DJ back when the song was out. They played all of these songs back. [00:09:58] Speaker B: To back to back. [00:10:02] Speaker C: So this is Lumidi, never leave you or. Uhoh. Uhoh. Yeah. So you hear this, then you hear Sean Paul, and then you hear Wayne wonder, all back to back to back. And then a couple other songs, if, you know, really into making shit. But, yeah, this is my number three. I don't know where she at now. [00:10:26] Speaker B: Ain't seen her since. [00:10:28] Speaker C: And at first I was thinking, because I was listening to alchemist album first infantry, and Nina sky was on that, but I was thinking Nina sky was Lumi d. But Nina sky got a couple other songs. They stayed out longer than Lumi D because they was right around the same time. But, yeah, this don't make you think of Wayne. [00:10:55] Speaker B: You can sing all of it into the same beat. [00:10:57] Speaker C: Yeah. I don't know what he'd be saying. But anyway, shout out to shiny Paul. That brings us to your number three. [00:11:08] Speaker B: Yes. Which is the other side of the WHOOP, there it is. Tag team version. [00:11:15] Speaker C: This is a better song. [00:11:16] Speaker B: WHOOP, there it is. They got a little bit more bass in it or something. [00:11:20] Speaker C: Yeah. Well, I mean, you can make it. [00:11:22] Speaker B: Better when you remember the words to this. I can't recite the words to the other one. Tag team back again. Let's begin. Party on Friday people, let me make some noise. Jump, jump for door there's a party over here a party over there. [00:11:37] Speaker C: Where they mentioned butts on this, too. But do you remember the remix? Because they went with it now. [00:11:45] Speaker B: Oh, okay. [00:11:45] Speaker C: They whooped their ass out because they had whom that is. And they had Adams family. [00:11:52] Speaker B: That's when they went pop. [00:11:54] Speaker C: Yeah, they went super pop. They got all the money they could out of that. Now, my number. Well, I'm on number two. My number two goes. One of my favorite people in media is Bamani Jones. [00:12:10] Speaker B: Okay. [00:12:10] Speaker C: And on one of his episodes, Bamani Jones says that my number two, which is your number one, is the perfect song because it has all the elements of everything you need in a song. [00:12:22] Speaker B: I know someone who absolutely hates it. [00:12:24] Speaker C: Who? [00:12:26] Speaker B: Nina, if you're listening, I'm sorry, baby. [00:12:28] Speaker C: Nina. Nina used to work? [00:12:30] Speaker B: No, she's from Georgia. [00:12:32] Speaker C: Oh, well, shout out to Nina. This is a perfect song. It got the long intro. It even got some call and response, an easy hook, all of that. It got everything you need in the beat. Listen to the ad libs. As I said, a story. Look at that. That's the perfect song right there. Now your number two. [00:13:04] Speaker B: Now, my number two actually inspired this list because I'm not listening to the breakfast club anymore. This was playing when I dropped Caleb off in the elementary car line. [00:13:15] Speaker C: And. [00:13:16] Speaker B: I forgot to turn the music down before we got out the car, so we jamming. Just take your. [00:13:21] Speaker C: Anybody looking at y'all? Yeah. You ever see the video of that guy when he goes to pick up his daughter? He always dancing and doing all kind of funny stuff, but I noticed that the kids that's around don't pay him no attention. So I feel like he always does that to it. Now they're just immune to it. This new jack. [00:13:41] Speaker B: This is new Jack swing. [00:13:43] Speaker C: Yes. New Jack swing. [00:13:45] Speaker B: Oh, this is Teddy Riley. [00:13:46] Speaker C: This is Teddy Riley. But I wanted to disconsider. New jack swing. Yes. Okay. Because this is after all of that other stuff, though, right? [00:13:55] Speaker B: Yeah. This is more late ninety s. Okay. [00:13:59] Speaker C: Yeah. Even though this is Teddy Riley there. This is the only one that they had. Now my number one. You did guess that your number one was going to be on my list, and we'll revisit that song. Do you think you know what my number one is? [00:14:15] Speaker B: I don't. I have no idea what you're about to. [00:14:18] Speaker C: Okay, good. I like to bring surprises. This number one, my number one. I feel like because this mixtape that this came off of, this is my only hip hop song. Well, no, because woot dead is this hip hop, too. But this is a one hit wonder that I really don't think is a one hit wonder because he had other songs. But this song just took off and went everywhere. People were dressing their kids up like him for Halloween. But, yeah, this is my number one. Hey, everybody saying, nigga go all in my watch. It's my number one. Trinidad James. And he from South Carolina. [00:15:02] Speaker B: I would say this is a one hit wonder when you look at the terms of a hit. Now, he made other songs, but we don't know what the motherfuckers is. [00:15:11] Speaker C: I know, but his first mixtape was good, and he had another one called, like, a ten piece mile or something like that. He had another mistake. It was good, too. Jesus Christ. [00:15:22] Speaker B: Real nigga. [00:15:26] Speaker C: He blew up off of this. Now he does, like, fashion and stuff. [00:15:29] Speaker B: But what did he write? He just did something real, and I was like, oh, shit. He directed Mooney Long's video. [00:15:36] Speaker C: Oh, really? [00:15:37] Speaker B: Made for me. [00:15:38] Speaker C: Really? [00:15:38] Speaker B: Where they cut that nigga in half and made him into a robot. [00:15:40] Speaker C: I didn't see that video. Hold on. What's her other song? What's her song? [00:15:46] Speaker B: Hours and hours is what? She got a song out now called made for me. [00:15:50] Speaker C: What's the song that people saying it's big on TikTok and people don't like it, that they tired of it. [00:15:55] Speaker B: That could be it. [00:15:56] Speaker C: That might be bad. What's the girl that sang the song? I think that's Victoria Monet. That sang the song. Get it from my mama. [00:16:04] Speaker B: That's Victoria Monet. [00:16:05] Speaker C: Okay. Oh, my God. All of them just beautiful. Shout out to Trinidad James. All gold, everything now number one for you once again, shout out to Nina. I wanted to put this my number one, but, you know, I got to make it hip hop. So hand Trinidad from Colombia and I. [00:16:27] Speaker B: Went to look to see if he had any other songs. [00:16:30] Speaker C: I did too. Yeah, that's what I did for still. [00:16:34] Speaker B: Eating off of this. [00:16:35] Speaker C: He got to be now because his song made a resurgence the past couple of years. Even, like, you hear it in the club, people go crazy for the shit. Shout out to Mark Morrison. Shout out to him. There's some other one hit wonders that we found, too. I didn't want to. [00:16:54] Speaker B: Blue Cantrell was on my honorable mention list. [00:16:58] Speaker C: Well, look, great minds think, damn, get it out, nigga. Let's see what else was on this list. This is a list. You found an article at bet and some of these. I agree with some of them. Like, ooh, the eyesize, baby. That's the one. [00:17:21] Speaker B: I could have sworn he had another song. When you think about it, it wasn't a hit if he did. [00:17:28] Speaker C: What else did they have on here? Craig Mack flavor in your ear, not a remix. He had two. I'm trying to think if he had another song? Because I don't remember. [00:17:41] Speaker B: I don't think so. If he did, it wasn't a hit. That's the thing. [00:17:45] Speaker C: Yeah, the loonies. I got five on it. [00:17:49] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:17:49] Speaker C: Bust a move by young MC if you want it. Okay. Tag team WHOOP that is made their list. And 95 south made their list also. Supersonic by JJ Fad can I bust cannabis? Second round knockout. He had another song other than second round knockout. [00:18:08] Speaker B: Yeah, that I think was more popular because I. [00:18:11] Speaker C: You remember second round knockout when he was dissing ll. [00:18:13] Speaker B: Yeah, but he had another song before that. [00:18:16] Speaker C: Right? I thought so, too. Tila Rock and Jazzy Jeff is yours. I don't even know what that means. I ain't old enough never scared by bone crusher I don't think he had another song, either. He just was featured DJ. Cool. Let me clear my throat. I really don't count this, because I don't think he was really trying to make music. Yeah, that's like fat man. [00:18:42] Speaker B: Fat man school. [00:18:42] Speaker C: But he got two hits, though. Yeah, because he got the fat man school crook. Whatever I say y'all gotta do. He got a couple more. Yeah, the pack by vans. Vans? Yeah, the vans. By the trying. Let me see if I can find. I think I noticed. [00:18:58] Speaker B: I remember that. That's kind of like a Cali swag district type thing. [00:19:02] Speaker C: Yeah, it was around that time. [00:19:05] Speaker B: Dougie and shit. [00:19:09] Speaker C: Come on now. This does not deserve to be on this list. [00:19:16] Speaker B: Hit is pushing it. [00:19:17] Speaker C: Yeah, they was reaching more than us. They could have put mocha stuff on here. Now, this way. I disagree with these niggas. They got Kai in my neck, in my back. Yeah, she got like, three or four songs. She got Kane Wang with it. [00:19:30] Speaker B: Don't trust no niggas. [00:19:32] Speaker C: Yeah, she got three or four good ones. Cali swag district, teach me how to Dougie audio two, top billing. That's fair, mems. This is why I'm hot. Do they count the remix, the reggae remix? This is why we are DJ Webstar and young B. Chicken noodle soup with the soda on the side. MCT Tucker and DJ Irv. Where they at? Oh, they say this is a Orleans classic. [00:20:10] Speaker B: If they say so. Okay. [00:20:14] Speaker C: The showboys drag rap. They call the song Trigger man. This is where they say a lot of New Orleans people get their beats from, like, manny Fresh and shit. He said he's. I forgot what song it was. I forgot what song it was. But was it back that ass up. It was one of the manifest beats. He was like. He got it from the trigger man beat or whatever. Okay, rump shaker. Which was on your list? Rex and effect. Oh, so that song came out in 92, not the late 90s. Damn, I thought it was later. Damn, we old crucial conflict. Hey. Which is. Yeah, I can't think of another one of their songs. Sean Brown rapping Duke. This came out in 83. Why the fuck would I care? Daha daha. That's all. Remember rapping Duke? Dah dah. You never thought the hip hop would take it this far. Play a circle, duffel bag boy. I thought they had another song, but I could be mistaken by titty boy. [00:21:16] Speaker B: Another song? But can we call that? Because, I mean, look how big titty boy made it to don't. [00:21:24] Speaker C: But I think they using the other part. [00:21:27] Speaker B: The name. The name player circle. [00:21:29] Speaker C: Yeah, I think they're using it. And the last one they had on this was by Tim Dog. Fuck Compton. Now, why would you do that? Kendrick Lamar from Compton. The game. He from Compton. A lot of bloods and crips from there. Why would you do that? Why would you say that, Tim Dog? Yeah, I guess this was during the hip hop east coast west coast battle. I don't remember that song, though. But, yeah, that was some other ones. If y'all have someone hit wonders. [00:21:57] Speaker B: Yeah, I know there's some more because one of my honorable mentions was Adina Howard. Freak like me. [00:22:04] Speaker C: She didn't have nothing else. [00:22:05] Speaker B: She had something else, but I wouldn't particularly call it a hit. She was too busy running at the wanier girl. You could have got some money. You could have. Could have did something. [00:22:14] Speaker C: What else? [00:22:15] Speaker B: That was it. All mine. Made list. [00:22:17] Speaker C: Oh, okay. We're good for you. I was trying to keep it off of hip hop, though, but I can't think of too many more because like we said earlier, some of the songs you might not have liked, I mean, they might not have been hits to everybody else, but you like them. You know what? Yeah, man. [00:22:38] Speaker B: So if that was the case, then heard it all before. Should be on the list. Sunshine Anderson. [00:22:44] Speaker C: Yeah, that's, um. You can think of any. [00:22:49] Speaker B: I said tipsy by Jquan. I was trying to think Jaquan got a song called Hood hop, but don't nobody know that damn song. [00:22:56] Speaker C: I do remember that because I used to play it in the clubs. Yeah, I used to play it in the club. They had Chingi on some lists I saw too, but that ain't it, because he had Holiday Inn one call away. [00:23:11] Speaker B: That's my song. [00:23:15] Speaker C: But, yeah, if y'all can think of any one hit wonders that we missed. Email us [email protected]. And hit us up with that. We'll play them on the show or whatever. We'll mention them on our next list episode. But that's it. That's all I got. Amy, let everybody know where they can find you on social media. [00:23:31] Speaker B: I can be found on all platforms at Amy's $0.22. That's Amys, the number 22. [00:23:36] Speaker C: C-E-N-T-S. You can find me on social media at preacher underscore BP. You can find the show on Instagram at DjBlade show. Email us [email protected]. Let us know what you think and let me know if I do. I need a Snapchat. I'm still debating. Should I get a Snapchat? [00:23:53] Speaker B: You mean a tick TikTok? [00:23:54] Speaker C: Yeah. TikTok. Yeah. I got a Snapchat, which I don't use. I don't even be on X no more because it's done got. Man, the racism on X is like, that's what it was. A video of some people, like, fussing in an apartment complex, and a dude was trying to get in an apartment, and he was like, man, fuck you and your mom. Whatever. The mama came to the door. The dude was at the door. The niggas start shooting each other. The mama got shot in the leg. And the one white guy was like, that's why I don't live around you monkeys and shit. And I was like, God damn. I got mad. I can't stand him, you apes. [00:24:28] Speaker B: Racism and vulgarity. [00:24:30] Speaker C: Yeah. And now this just porn. [00:24:34] Speaker B: Who the nigga four from the tattoo show. He's from. What's it called? Black ink. [00:24:39] Speaker C: He do just do straight porn on there.
